I started to take photography seriously for the first time in college when I learned the magic of the darkroom. I have rarely been without a camera slung over my shoulder since.
While playing in a band after college, I began documenting the music scene and have since shot a few hundred concerts over the year. I have contributed to numerous publications and online outlets and have my work featured in Polly Magazine, where I am also the Art Director. I cofounded Amalgam Photos, a space for longform illustrated essays and continue to exhibit my photos in galleries and places of business whenever I can.
When things are more quiet, I like to work in a documentary style, focusing on finding the extraordinary hiding in plain sight. Drawn to images that quietly tell the story of a place, my work traces the layers of industry, architecture, and cultural memory that shape the landscapes we move through every day. Working with an observational approach, I create photographs that function as both contemporary documents and future archives.
